The German-based line, launched in 2018, is the tour operating arm of Scylla Group which is one of the biggest builders of river cruise ships, supplying vessels for companies including Tauck and Riviera Travel. The vessel features a choice of three restaurants -- the main dining room, a casual bistro and specialty venue Moments with live entertainment -- and accommodations include eight suites. Viva Two will offer a variety of English-speaking sailings including classic seven-night round-trip cruises from Passau and itineraries to the lesser-known Danube Delta. The line also recently canceled months of voyages on its Norwegian Spirit ship set to take place between July 3 and Sept. 18, 2024, because of a full ship charter.

Riviera Travel has added ten post-cruise European city break extensions to its 2023 river cruise itineraries, enabling guests to spend more time in their final destination or a nearby location after sailings on the Danube, Douro, Rhine, Rhone, Moselle and Seine. The three-day extensions, spanning six countries, are in Amsterdam, Basel, Cologne, Frankfurt, Lyon, Marseille, Munich, Paris, Porto and Vienna. The extensions comprise a stay in a centrally-located three- or four-star hotel, with guests free to explore the city at their own pace. Riviera offers independent advice on the best places to visit, and has partnered with online travel platform Holibob so people can book recommended tours and experiences. German-owned A-Rosa River Cruises, which offers "international" cruises for English speakers, has introduced a collection of themed cruises on the Rhine, Danube, Rhone and Moselle including photography, food, yoga, meditation and design. Previously serving mainly buffet-style meals, passengers can now opt to serve themselves or have an a la carte dining experience.

Norwegian Cruise Line has reached out to guests booked aboard Norwegian Epic from December 1, 2023 through April 9, 2024, to inform them that all of the ship’s sailings within that time frame have been cancelled. To reflect the last-minute notification for the upcoming cruise, as well as disruption to Thanksgiving plans, guests booked on the Nov. 11 and Nov. 18 sailings will be provided with an FCC equivalent to 100 percent of the fare paid for the cancelled booking.

She said she has never seen passengers bumped as a result of a full-ship charter less than nine months to a year ahead of sailing. The cruise line will also provide passengers with refunds for changes or cancellations related to full-ship charters, according to its website. Royal Caribbean will also cover up to $200 per guest of non-refundable transportation change fees, such as for airfare, hotels, or rental cars (up to $400 per guest for international travelers). Luxury line Uniworld has new family-friendly sailings in Egypt as part of its Generations program. Aimed at wine-lovers, Scenic is introducing the seven-night Charming Castles & Vineyards sailing from Frankfurt to Basel.
Carnival Cruise Line has canceled the first cruises of its newest ship due to shipyard delays. Cruising in the Red Sea, the Orchestra was scheduled to offer a series of cruises to Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia between November 2023 and April 2024. As the conflict in Israel continues to impact the cruise market, there are a handful of cancellations and redeployments.

See the parts of the Seine larger ships cannot reach on this hotel barge cruise with French specialist CroisiEurope. The round-trip Paris sailing on the cozy 21-passenger Deborah takes in the Petite Seine section of the river, and its tributary the Yonne, and includes a visit and tasting at a Champagne cellar. All guests will also receive an additional 10% discount as an FCC for any future voyage for sailings through and including December 31, 2024. This 10% discount can be used in any sailing region, but may not be combined with the 20% European sailing discount.

For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, sailings on the 12-passenger Panache “bubbly”, will feature visits to prestigious Champagne houses that including Moet & Chandon. There is no mention of any dry dock or refurbishment plans that would remove the ship from service. Nor are these cancellations apparently the result of full ship charters, as is the case with the cancellation of much of the 2024 Alaska sailing season for Norwegian Spirit, which was just announced a few days ago. If guests paid for their now-cancelled cruise with a future cruise credit (FCC), the FCC will be returned back to their Latitudes loyalty account automatically within 10 days. At the moment, sailings from September 15 onward are still scheduled to depart as planned.
The canceled cruises include all sailings from Dec. 30, 2022, through Feb. 13, 2023; from Feb. 20, 2023, through April 14, 2023; and from May 29, 2023 through Dec. 29, 2023, the company said in statement. Once fully completed, the ship will be handed over to Royal Caribbean and will sail to her homeport of Miami. Icon of the Seas’ maiden voyage on January 27, 2024 will be a 7-night Eastern Caribbean & Perfect Day itinerary, calling at St. Kitts, St. Thomas, and Perfect Day at CocoCay, the cruise line’s private destination in the Bahamas.
With supporting documentation, the company will also reimburse non-refundable air change fees of up to $200 per person. Vision of the Seas is homeported from Baltimore, Maryland, and the September 23 sailing was to have been a 5-night cruise to Bermuda, with no other ports of call available. Significant compensation is being offered, though travelers will undoubtedly be disappointed by the short notice and loss of their cruise vacation. Fortunately, McPhillips had not yet left for Alaska by the time the cruise was canceled. While McPhillips said she is satisfied with the overall compensation package, she's concerned that the refund won't be enough money for a balcony room on a future cruise. The ship, which will debut in January 2024 as the largest cruise ship afloat, will carry 7,600 guests at full capacity, plus 2,350 crew.
In May, the 158-passenger Amadeus Riva will become the 10th ship in the Austrian- family-owned Amadeus River Cruises' fleet. Amadeus Riva will sail on the Danube and the Rhine as well as on the Dutch and Belgian waterways. It is likely the vessel will instead sail in popular winter destinations, such as offering Caribbean itineraries, or could even be redeployed to Australia or New Zealand during that region’s summer sailing season.
American Cruise Lines collaborated with leading Miami-based design company Studio DADO to create the interiors of the ships combining contemporary décor that also reflects U.S. history and heritage. Due to the unexpected issue, Royal Caribbean is offering compensation to impacted guests for the September 8 sailing. Passengers can choose to receive a full refund of their cruise, which includes any pre-purchased packages, that will be completed in 14 business days. It may be tempting to rebook on Jewel of the Seas for a longer voyage visiting more ports, but guests should carefully compare the vessels before deciding. Mariner of the Seas is a Voyager-class ship, weighing in at 139,863-gross tons and able to accommodate 3,114 passengers, whereas Jewel of the Seas is a Radiance-class ship at just 90,090 gross tons and with a capacity of 2,501 passengers.
